Shopping for Rakhi festival has already begun, sisters across the country are buying best Rakhis for their siblings. On the other hand, brothers are getting gift items for their beloved sisters.

Meena Gupta, a resident of Indirapuram based residential complex, Saya Zenith, and her sister is setting an example for others, they are based in two different corners of the country, and are tied with the holy thread of Rakhi.

Gupta, a mother of one, designs Rakhi and sends the designs to her sister based in Kolkata, where she gathers all the raw material makes Rakhi, which is further sold in local markets under popular name, ‘Meena Didi Ki Rakhi.’

Apart from Kolkata, raw materials are collected from wholesale markets based in Delhi, Jaipur, and Gujarat. The two sisters have shared their workload and are happily making and selling their custom-made Rakhis with the help of the local vendors at marketplaces as well as at malls.

At present, Gupta is aiming to sell the products in local markets. However, she is likely to opt for online platforms from next year.

The sisters started their business in 2012-13 with a sum of Rs 5000 only and currently, they earn around 8 lakh annually.
