Gurugram is all set to celebrate 73rd Independence Day in a grand and vibrant manner. A full dress rehearsal was held yesterday at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, Sector-38, Gurugram. The district administration is leaving no stone unturned to make celebration grandeur.

Haryana Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu will unfurl the tricolor at 9 am on Thursday and salute the grand parade.

Deputy Commissioner Amit Khatri and Commissioner of Police Mohammad Akil took stock of preparation and gave necessary guidelines to the participants for Independence Day celebration.

Total 9 contingents are participating in the parade, which will be headed by ACP Usha Kundu. The parade comprises contingents of Gurugram Police, Gurugram Mahila Police, Traffic Police, Home Guards, NCC, Student Police Cadets, Scouts, Sentinels of Democracy and NCC Junior Division. The tune of march past will be performed by bands from Global School, Devasamaj School and Gurunanak School.

Thousands of school children are preparing for the day and will be highlighting Unity in Diversity through various colorful cultural programs. The audience will once again hear the song 'Vande Mataram' which will kindle patriotism in the heart of citizens

The series of cultural events of the Independence Day celebrations will feature a catchy rendition of the patriotic song by children. Children will give an attractive presentation on tabla and harmonium. Apart from this, Rajasthani folk dance 'Kalbeliya' will also be part of the celebration.

Similarly, the students of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Jakampura, will give a message to save water by presenting ragini based on water conservation and cleanliness. Not only this, students of Vedic Girls Senior Secondary School, Madumal Girls Senior Secondary School, Gurunanak Girls High School and SD Kanya Senior Secondary School will present the vibrant Bhangra. The Haryanvi dance will be performed by the students of Government Model Sankriti Senior Secondary School.

Children from various schools will perform PT Show, Lezium and Dumble Show in the ceremony. On this occasion, the spectacular feats of acrobatics yoga will also be shown by the children of Sector-4 Yoga Center.

An oath on water conservation will be administered by IEC expert Dr. Harbhajan Singh of Municipal Corporation of Gurugram.

The Chief Guest Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu will also pay homage to freedom fighters at Zilla Parishad Hall on Independence Day.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Imran Raza, DCP Headquarter Shashank, DCP Sulochana Gajraj, ACP Usha Kundu, City Magistrate Manisha Sharma, Joint Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Gurugram Sanjeev Singla, Gurugram North SDM Jitendra Kumar, GMDA Stadium Manager Sukhbir Singh, District Education Officer Premlata Yadav, District Sports Officer Raj Yadav, Deputy Director (NCR) DPRO RS Sangwan and others senior officials were present on the occasion.

Police has also pulled up their socks to provide better security on the occasion of Independence Day. CP Mohammad Akil gave instruction to police and has asked to tightened security in the city. All the police personnel have been asked to be more vigilant and ensure full safety.
