Dwarka: Women celebrate Teej, Independence Day

A group of women in Dwarka celebrated Teej festival and Independence Day on Wednesday at Sector 23 community hall of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC). 

The programme was organised by Association of Neighbourhood Ladies Get-together (ANHLGT). On the occassion, women and children participated in various activities to celebrate the festivals. Various cultural programmes celebrating Independence Day were also performed. Women sang songs and danced on patriotic songs to mark the festivity. 

President of ANHLGT, Cicily Kudiyan said, “We celebrated both the events and enjoyed a lot. Our aim is to promote social solidarity and responsibility for the community. Through such events, we are trying to spread message of cultural harmony and patriotism.”

Kudiyan further informed that as a part of their Independence Day celebrations, ANHLGT has been promoting trees plantation also. She said that some plantation drives were carried in previous weeks and more such events are lined up for coming weeks. “We want to give a message of greenery and patriotism. People should mark the Independence Day occasion with plants and look after them to save the environment.”
