Greater Noida West residents to meet SSP regarding increasing theft cases

On the basis of number of complaints registered regarding thefts in the vicinity of high-rise buildings in Greater Noida West, residents of newly established residential hub has decided to meet Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Gautam Buddh Nagar.

Information accessed through Uttar Pradesh Police’s official website -uppolice.gov.in, show that in the last one month 50 theft cases have been registered. At some places theft has occurred twice or thrice. It is very disheartening to know that even after ‘Clean Operation’ mission, which was launched in July, such thefts are taking place.

Manish Kumar, a resident of Arihant Arden, who is a member of Noida Extension Flat Owners Association (NEFOWA) said that one can visit UP Police’s website to access information regarding public services setup by the state police. One has to enter a recommended password to login into the official website. “Many incidents of theft took place within short intervals. I wanted to know how many incidents were reported in the last one month and was shocked to see that 49 FIR have been registered under Bisrakh Police Station,” Kumar added.

Kumar claimed that theft complaints which have been registered include chain snatching, bag snatching, cars and robberies at homes. Around six cars have been stolen and a dozen of homes have been burgled. He said that he will ask NEFOWA to raise this serious concern with senior police officials in Gautam Budh Nagar.

A letter written by residents to SSP of Gautam Budh Nagar says, “People living in various sectors are worried due exponential rise in crimes in the last few months especially vehicle thefts, chain and purse snatching and now kidnapping and abduction are also added to the list. People especially women are living under dreadful atmosphere. Criminals are roaming openly without fear of any law and order and executing their plans.”

In his letter, Kumar pointed out that complaints registered under Bisrakh police station are not being updated in UP Police’s website – CCTNS-Citizen Portal and has sought explanation in this regard.

CitySpidey spoke to Manoj Pathak, SHO-Bisrakh police station, to get his views on the matter. He said he won’t be able to say anything since he was not aware of the report. “They might have got some reports through online which also includes complaints registered on 100 number. We will check the authenticity of the report, it may be true also and will act accordingly. But at present I have no such information,” Pathak replied.
