Residents of sector 137 set to celebrate August 15 differently

Residents from all high rises in Sector 137 are all set to celebrate the Independence Day differently, especially with those in needs. They are donating old clothes generously for re-use.

Crd (Retd) Raj Kumar, a resident of Sector 137, said that they are underway with donation collection drive in the sector. Fellow residents from all eight high rises in the areas have been donating reusable clothes and toys for kids, shoes, bags, books and stationery etc.

Kumar said that residents of each society have taken keen interest in the collection drive. They have been collecting from all residents of their respective society and putting cartoons and bags. Later, they bring them along to drop at Supertech Ecociti, a high rise residential society in Sector 137, where they are being stored.

He informed that as many as 40 cartons of reusable items are collected till the date, and around 50 plus cartons more are expected to come from the ongoing drive. They approached an NGO named Goonj for handing over all the collections from different residential societies.

The NGO will carry all these collections to particular sites where construction workers or other needy people reside. All these items are distributed among children from weaker section of the society. He said, "After hoisting the national flag, we will give the collection to the NGO for distributing among underprivileged."
