A group of working professionals, who live in multi-story in Greater Noida West, have decided to become a helping hand for children who are unable to meet even their basic needs. The group has decided to celebrate Independence Day with children and families of people working as labourer and are not financially capable to fulfil their children’s desire.
The group is associated with a Non-Government Organisation (NGO), Robinhood Army, and have been working for the poor children for the last two years. Last year, the group had adopted a village area near Gaur Soundaryam and setup a place to teach poor children. They teach children every Sunday.
The group also distributes study materials and food collected from their sources to the children. It works in three areas for people which are education, food and cultural. “First thing is to provide education. If we can educate 10 children then it would be a real return to the nation We are only 9-10 people in the group and we reach out to people to seek their support for this purpose and most of the time people do. We never ask to donate money. We just ask people to provide food and study materials on their special days like birthday, marriage anniversary, festivals etc,” said Shyam Thakur a resident of Erose Sampoornam, who is part of the initiative.
On this Independence Day, the group has decided to distribute grains to the needy people who cannot afford to have two meals a day. Thakur said around 500 kg of grains has been collected from the residents of two societies – Gaur Sondaryam and Erose Sampoornam. “We seek support from friends and those who are familiar with our work. Many people support by giving study materials, while others distribute food on special occasions. We also contribute from our pockets,” Thakur said.
Thakur further said that last year they taught around 50 children in a village. This year they are planning to setup one more place for this purpose in another village near in sector 81, Noida. Apart from education and food, the group with the help of other residents also organise cultural activities for the children to provide them a platform to showcase their talent which helps in boosting their self confidence.TAGS: Greater Noida West / Independence Day / Non-Government Organisation (NGO) / Robinhood Army / Gaur Soundaryam / Erose Sampoornam / Parthala Chowk
