Noida: Jalvayu Vihar residents paid tribute to martyrs on Independence Day

Residents of Jalvayu Vihar, sector 21 Noida, celebrated Independence Day with the theme of ‘Ek Deep Shaheedo Ke Naam’ at community center. Residents lit a ‘deep’ at their door step to pay homage to martyrs and soldiers.

Kiran Sharma, mother of late Captain Sahil Sharma, Veer Chakra, ARTY Regiment, who lost his life in Siachen Sector in Feb 1995, was the chief guest and lit the first candle. Large number of residents paid tribute by lighting candles and remembering their heroes who sacrificed their life fighting for our freedom and safeguarding the nation.

Women- Army, Navy and Air Force Wives Association (ANAWA) Noida, celebrated with the theme, ‘Mile Jo Sur Tumhara To Sur Bane Hamara’ which define India’s ethos of unity in diversity.

The celebration was followed by cultural and dressing competition in which women came in traditional attire of each state. Usha Kushwaha, a Sub Inspector, sector 20, Noida was the special invitee and she joined the group in singing patriotic songs.

“On 15th August, our national flag was unfurled at main gates of Sectors 21 and 25 , in the presence of guards, society workers and residents. All were chanting ‘BHARAT MATA KI JAI’ and ‘VANDE MATRAM’,” said N. Mahajan, a resident of jalvayu Vihar and a ex-Army person.
