The facilities were developed intending to ease the inconvenience faced by metro passengers while the commuting between Greater Noida and Delhi.

More than 300 meters long walkway between metro stations of two different metro lines in Sector 71 and Sector 51 was thrown open for commuters on Sunday. With the opening, commuters will have seamless access to these metro stations. This walkway will connect Blue Line with Aqua Line.

Durga Shankar Mishra, Secretary of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India on Sunday inaugurated the facilities, which was developed intending to ease the inconvenience faced by metro passengers while the commuting between Greater Noida and Delhi.

He also flagged off a fleet of 10 solar powered e-rickshaws, which were deployed at these metro stations for the convenience of commuters. These e-rickshaws will provide free services to commuters.

Mishra said, "These facilities will provide commuters an experience of seamless service connecting two metro stations, one on Aqua Line and the other on Blue line, which currently originate from Dwakra and ends at Electronic City in Sector 62.''

The walkway is well designed and it enhances beauty of the city. NMRC developed three lanes. Out of these, one is dedicated for passengers walking down from one metro station to the other. It has a shade above for commuters’ convenience. The other is dedicated for e-rickshaws and the third lane is developed as a green area to give commuters an experience of walking in a park.

Alok Tandon, Managing Director of NMRC said that the corporation has already incurred a budget of Rs 1.5 crores for developing these facilities for commuters. He said, "I had seen such a walkway in Gujrat which looked good. We have developed this facility here in Noida too.”
