Two doctors associated with Cloudnine, a private hospital in sector 51, Noida, have been charged with negligence that resulted in death of a foetus. As per the report, a Greater Noida based couple, both software engineers, had approached the police in March after the death of their yet to be born child.

An FIR was registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 304 (causing death by negligence) and the parents blamed two doctors Pratibha Singhal and Ritika Dinanath. Ankit Garg, the father, alleged that doctors had delayed in attending to his wife Shweta Kashyap when she was in labour and their child died due to doctors’ negligence.

The matter was taken up by the Gautam Budd Nagar Chief Medical Officer and then referred it to the Meerut Medical Board before it reached the UP Medical Council and the investigation was ordered in the case.

“Dr. Pratibha Singhal and Dr. Ritika Dinanath were found guilty of not fulfilling their medical responsibilities during an inquiry,” UP Medical Council’s report said.

“Hence, they are warned to stay responsible towards their medical commitments and strictly caution not to repeat such negligence in future,” the report added.

The medical council report, however, stated that doctor Dinanath should not be blamed for the death as she was the only doctor available at the hospital at the time of the incident.
