GreNo: Two chain snatching incidents near high-rise reported in one day

In a shocking incident, a bid for chain-snatching was foiled by a resident of a high-rise on early Tuesday morning outside Arihant Arden in Greater Noida West.

As per the footage recorded on the CCTV, at around 6:15 am, two motorcycle-borne men tried snatching a gold chain from Ankur Sharma, a resident of the Arihant Arden, who had gone out to buy milk from a nearby market.

"I was hardly 50 meters away from the gate when the two men came near me and the pillion rider tried snatching the gold chain I was wearing", Sharma said.

However, foiling their bid Manish started running and reached the gates, wherein the CCTV children were seen waiting for their school bus.  

Talking about the failure of law and order situation in the area, Sharma says " we are living in complete fear of life here, there is no sense of fear for law among the criminals".

Today it was me, it will be someone else some other day, he concluded.

In the last few months, several incidents of chain-snatching have been reported by the residents of different societies in and around this area.

Residents have also been running a campaign against rising day-to-day street crimes in their area where number high-rises are located.

“In the last one month, more than 50 complaints of theft, snatching, and other incidents have been registered in Bishrakah Police Station', Manish Kumar, resident of Arihant Arden said.

This incident has made it evident that alleged criminals are active since early morning and wait to execute their plans, the crime is at epitome in Greater Noida west, he added.

In another similar incident, a woman's chain was snatched near Manthan School in Greater Noida. The victim was identified as, Pratiksha Shrivastava, a resident of 11th Avenue Gaur City 2, Greater Noida West. The incident took place while she was returning after picking up her kid from the school.  

Shrivastava said, "a complaint has been registered at the nearby police station."
