There have been more than 15 incident of chain snatching in last two to three months around the weekly market area in sector 14.

A drastic rise in the crime in and around the Sunday weekly market in sector 14 has been seen in last three months with more number of women being preyed on by the chain and mobile snatchers.

On last Sunday, Sujata Sharma (name changed), a resident of Radhika Apartment in sector 14, like any other of her Sunday was heading to the weekly market when at around 6 pm, a boy snatched her chain.

She says, "I did not file a police complaint about the incident because of fear". I saw his face but soon he escaped through the road between Radhika Apartment and Nirmal Bharatiya School, she added.

Another resident, RK Singh said, "there have been more than 15 incident in last two to three months around the weekly market area", he further added that recently his neighbour's mobile phone was snatched.

Singh also mentioned that most of these incidents occur with women, who are vulnerable and don't wish to involve police.  

Ravi Sinha, a resident of Netaji Subhash Apartment in sector 13, was coming from the sector 14 metro station situated near Radhika Apartment on Sunday.

When two motorcycle borne men tried to snatch Ravi's phone but ran away after he resisted and started calling out loudly.

He says, "police should patrol the area, especially around the Sunday market area".

A police officer from Dwarka north taking cognizance of the matter has given assurance to nab the gang involved.
