The theft of the official SUV of a senior police official on Tuesday night has raised questions over the security arrangements of high-profile Sector 23 of Noida. The blue-beacon bearing SUV of IPS officer, Anand Swarup, was stolen from right outside his house.
RWA President of Sector 23, RC Bharadwaj told City Spidey that earlier there used to be regular patrolling by Noida Police PCR vans. But of late, police presence in the sector has become negligible, he added.
Noida SP, Dinesh Yadav, said that efforts are on to trace the vehicle with the help of CCTV footage provided by the RWA. But the identity of the car-lifters could not be ascertained from the footage.
Meanwhile, a high alert has been sounded in Noida and NCR with additional police presence in residential areas.
