GreNo Development Authority approves setting up national police university

Greater Noida Development Authority has approved to set up a national police university in Greater Noida area. The decision was taken in its 115th Board meeting held on Thursday. The authority further said that it has also approved land to set up the police university.

“We have approved the allotment of 100 acres of land for setting up a national police university. The land is located in Techzone -5 which is situated near Knowledge Park area,” Narendra Bhushan, CEO of Greater Noida Authority said.

The development has come on the Centre’s proposal to set up an institution to tackle modern day policing challenges with the view that the national university for policing will help in improving police personnel training, skills, research and also policy making with regard to policing in the country.

In this regard, the Ministry of Home Affairs on August 17 had written to the Greater Noida Authority seeking 100 acres land. As per earlier report, the authority had allotted 100 acres land for setting up national university in 2008, however, the ministry of home affairs did not construct the building and the project was scrapped. After the ministry scrapped its project, the authority had cancelled the allotment of land in 2017. However, ministry has once again written to the authority seeking land for the same purpose.
