Flat owners of Jaypee Sports City, Sector 128, Noida, came out on the streets on Saturday and blocked the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway to protest the delay by the builder in handing over the flats to them.
They raised slogans against the builder who they accused of cheating. They say that despite having paid 95 per cent of the price of flats to the builder, they are still waiting for the possession of their dream homes. Most of the flat owners booked flats in 2008, 2009 and 2010. The date of possession was in the end of 2014.
MP Chabbra, a buyer, said, “The building in which I was promised a flat in Jaypee Sports City is a proposed 28-storey structure, but till date only 22 storeys have been built. The work for the remaining structure has come to a standstill.”
Sameer, another buyer, said that the builder has taken the flat owners for granted as they have already paid about 95 per cent of the cost of the house. He said, “We are forced to protest on the roads as the deadline given by the builder is long overdue and construction work at the site has come to a complete standstill.”
City Spidey tried to get in touch with the representatives of the builder but they were unavailable for comment.
