Noida: Residents of 7X sectors turn concrete forest into lush green

Aiming to turn the current concrete forest into lush green, residents of several residential societies in 7X sectors on Saturday came out to plant saplings on road sides on the eve of Krishna Janmashtami which will be celebrated today across the nation.

They planted as many as 40 plants on roadsides in sectors 76 and sector 77 which were vacant till now. Neem and Peepal were planted which have medicinal benefits and release oxygen even during the night.

Devender Singh, a social worker who resides in one of the societies in the sectors said, "It is good that people are taking out time to plant trees despite being busy in festive celebration. It also indicates that they are taking care for trees which gives fresh air to breathe. The areas will also become greener once these saplings grow. Till now it looked like a concrete forest with only buildings and no green cover.''

Recognising their efforts for saving the environment, Noida Federation of Apartments Associations (NOFAA) for high rises came forward to felicitate them. It honoured several residents such as Sachin Goyal, Devender Singh and Amit Gupta etc with mementos and medals.

Rajiva Singh, president of NOFAA said, ''They are those residents who are socially active in these sectors. They have been doing these works frequently for saving environment. The federation felicitated them to motivate them for keeping up such work.”

Residents from residential societies like J M Orchid, Skytech, Prateek Wisteria, Gaur Sports Wood, Civitech Sampriti, Aditya Celebrate Home and Grand Ajnara Heritage also made contribution to the plantation drive. Noida Industrial Development Authority gave residents 70 plants for plantations and also tree guards for the safety of these plants from stray animals.
