Homebuyers of two under-construction towers in Greater Noida situated EcoVillage-1 in sector 1 protested outside the site office of the builder on Sunday, demanding the possession of their flats in the society.
The booking for the flats in EcoVillage-1 was started in 2010 and the homebuyers were promised the possession within 11 months in 2011, while most of the residents were given the possession after the delay of four years in 2015, two towers were not completed and are still under-construction in 2019.
“We have been protesting thinking that the builder will at least consider and give any pace to the on-going construction work in the tower," Sumit, a homebuyer who has been living in a rented accommodation in the same township since last four years said.
Another homebuyer said, there are 6,500 units which come under the category of under-constructed only 2500 units are constructed and possession has been given to the owners.
Around 200 people gathered around the office of the Project manager Kanchan demanding the date of their possession, a female protester said, “We have put in all our life’s saving to get homes for our family, we are still behgar (homeless), after paying in lakhs, taking loans”.
Another homebuyer said, “Today we are paying both, our house rent and the EMI we took to buy this house”.
Notably, EcoVillage was one of the first projects launched by Supertech in 2009 while many of its later projects have been completed, its initial project is yet to see occupants any sooner considering the pace of the on-going work.
