One would hardly be able to walk as the entire market has been encroached by vendors.
Dwarka's busiest market in sector 4 is facing an issue of encroachment, under which temporary shops and parked vehicles are contributing a major chunk.
The encroachment was removed on the occasion of August 15 for security purposes, under which the authorities had removed these makeshift businesses and parking areas. But weeks after the event, the encroachers have returned again on their old spots, making it a chaotic marketplace. Visitors complain about the unwanted ruckus in the area.
SK Sharma, a resident of Harmony apartment in sector 4, which lies just behind the market said, "It is sad to see that the vendors have again started encroaching the road. Seems like the administration is not concerned as they are doing nothing to keep them at bay. I wonder what made these vendors to encroach the road again, especially when they were removed by the authorities. This cannot happen without connivance.”
Even after falling under the zero-tolerance zone, sector 4 market is full of encroachers. Residents alleged that the encroachment could not have taken place without the connivance of the officials.
Rashmi Bansal, a resident of Sector 4 said, “Both, the SDMC and police are aware of these encroachments but they are doing nothing to remove them. This market was developed by DDA who is responsible for all the rules and regulations. However, DDA too is doing nothing to remove the encroachments. They should ensure that the encroachment does not reappear."
Director Press Information, SDMC, Radha Krishna said that the subject will be taken into concern.
