GreNo: Women's chain-snatched in front of Mayfair market

In another chain-snatching incident in Greater Noida, a woman’s chain was snatched by two motorcycle-borne men in front of the Mayfair market while she was returning home after dropping her children to school.

The woman, a resident of Spring Meadows society, was not even 500 metres away from her residence when the incident occurred. She along with other residents usually walk their children to school every day from the same route. The two motorcycle borne-men after snatching the chain fled towards Nirala Greenshire.

“Ruchi and her friend were walking back home after dropping the children at Sarvottam school when the incident took place around 7:20 am”, Shitij, the woman’s husband told CitySpidey.

Ruchi called on the Uttar Pradesh Police emergency number 100 after the snatching incident and within 10 minutes the police reached the spot, he added.

"As of now, a complaint has been registered based on which the police is seeking CCTV footage from the area where the incident took place, " said Shitij, victims husband.

He added that the officials had told them that an FIR will be registered in Bisrakh police station about the incident soon.

After the incident, the residents of Spring Meadow society have decided to demand the installation of CCTV in the society for the safety of the residents.

Talking to our reporter, Cherry County police chowki in-charge Sunny Jawla said, “ We are investigating the matter and looking for an unregistered white Apache bike”.

He added, “ We are suspecting that most of these snatching cases have been carried out by men who come from Ghaziabad and flee back there after the incident”.
