Vexed Gurgaon residents appeal to the corporation

Spurred to action by the apathy of the builder and the private maintenance agency, residents of Sushant Lok I appeal to the Gurgaon corporation to take over.

Vexed Gurgaon residents appeal to the corporation

Over 200 residents of Sushant Lok I have complained to the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) against both the private developer and the maintenance agency for poor upkeep of the colony.

Developed by Ansal Group, Sushant Lok is maintained by Profac Services Pvt Ltd. Irked residents requested the MCG to take charge of the society, so that they can have better living conditions.

The residents met the MCG commissioner, TL Satya Prakash, and the deputy commissioner, Amit Khatri, who in turn promised to look into the matter and take prompt action.

“We have complained regularly about the bad roads, poor security, substandard infrastructure, but we get nothing but promises from the maintenance agency," said an agitated resident, Maharaj Gupta.

The residents mostly hold Profac Services responsible for their woes. The situation turned so dire that they were forced to pool in money to get the roads repaired.

“It used to be an upscale locality once, but not any longer. The conditions are turning from bad to worse with every single day, while the maintenance agency and the developer continue to pass the buck,” complained another resident, Sangeeta Kaushik.

The conditions will improve if the MCG takes charge. Or so residents feel. “The private developer has to develop the society and then hand it over to the MCG. But, as it happens, the developer appoints a maintenance agency to keep its hold over the society and the monthly maintenance charges are pocketed by the developer,” explains a member of the RWA.

“I have spent 15 years in this colony, and the residents continue to be taken for a ride by the developer. We now want the locality to be handed over to the MCG. The residents living in HUDA (Haryana Urban Development Authority) and MCG colonies enjoy far better conditions,” said Mallika Arora, a resident.

The MCG commissioner confirmed that the Haryana chief minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, has already given his nod to the transfer of certain HUDA sectors and some private localities to the MCG. The conditions are expected to improve once the administrative transfers start.

After the takeover, a team from the MCG will ensure, among other things, uninterrupted power-and-water supply in Sushant Lok.
