Following a number of theft and snatching incidents around the residential highrises, the local police have asked the societies to install CCTV cameras around their premises, especially in an angle in which the service lanes are also covered.

The notice was issued by the district police (Bishrakh police station) after several complaints were made by the residents, who demanded tough action against rising crime in the area. "Install CCTV cameras and lights in a way that a wide area of the society premises is covered, and the criminals can be identified."

Neeraj Tripathi, a resident of Nirala Estate said, "We had a meeting with the management, during which demanded the installation of CCTV cameras. In our society, very few CCTV cameras are installed. Earlier, we had also met with the Bishrakh police for the same purpose as several robbery and snatching incidents were reported from the area."

CitySpidey was informed that after the notice was issued by the Bishrakh police, management of the societies also issued notices asking residents to contribute money for the installation of the CCTV cameras. One such similar notice was issued by the management of Galaxy North Avenue.

“We would like to bring your kind notice that we have received a notice from Bishrakh police asking for the installation of adequate street lights and CCTV cameras in such a way so that surveillance can be done on the main road. Therefore, we shall require extra funds of Rs. 1,50,000, which shall be collected from all the residents of Galaxy North Avenue,” the notice read.
