Even as Noida is reeling under acute shortage of drinking water during the peak summer, scenes of wastage of gallons of drinking water abound the city. Jal Vayu Vihar in Sector 25, where main pipeline is damaged, is the latest example of criminal wastage of water.

The water pipeline near the sector's market supplies Ganga Jal to the twin Jal Vayu Vihar sectors, 21 and 25. Last evening, it got damaged due to some unknown reason. Ever since, water leaking from the ruptured pipe is spilling on to the street.

It has been almost 24 hours since the pipeline got damaged, but no official from Noida Authority came to fix it even as water is constantly flooding the surrounding areas.

Pointing at this sheer wastage, Narendra Mahajan, a resident of Jal Vayu Vihar, told City Spidey that thousands of gallons of drinking water is going down the drain during morning and evening hours when pressure of the supply is high.

BP Goel, president of the RWA, said he informed about the leaking pipeline to Noida Authority on its helpline number within hours after the pipeline got damaged. But, so far, nobody from the authority came to have a look at the damaged pipeline, leave alone finding ways and means to repair it.

When contacted, MP Sharma, project engineer of Jal Division, Noida Authority, denied having received any complaint about the damaged pipeline. Thanking City Spidey for bringing the matter to his notice, he assured that he would soon send his team to fix it.
