GDA issue notice to 22 societies' builders to obtain completion certificate

Ghaziabad Development Authority has issued notice to the builders of 22 housing societies in Crossings Republik to apply for completion certificate failing which the layout plan of the societies will be cancelled. The developers of these housing societies are yet to procure completion certificate of their projects from the authority. The authority has given one month's time to the builders to apply for the completion certificate.

The notice read, “It's illegal to hand over the flats to the residents without obtaining completion certificate for the project.”

Sushil Kumar Chaubey, Officer on Special Duty in GDA said that actions will be taken against the builders under Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act if they fail to reply to the notice served to them.

Chaubey said that the move has come after a verdict by RERA where it ordered that the right to offer possession to the residents will be given to the builders only after they apply for the completion certificate.

Besides, the authority has also directed the builders to form Apartments Owners Association (AOA) in societies where it is yet to be formed.

As per a report by GDA, 24 out of 31 societies in Crossings Republik have formed AOAs. However, only two have handed over their maintenance services to the AOA, while 22 others are still run by the builders' management.
