GreNo: Protesting Supertech Eco Village-2 residents booked for blocking traffic

An FIR has been registered against a group of residents of Supertech Eco Village-2 for blocking vehicular movement on the main road on Tuesday night.

Greater Noida's Bishrakh police have named 7 persons and 60-70 unnamed other residents for violating Section 144 imposed in the district and blocking traffic movement, including an ambulance on the road.

"They (protesters) were booked under IPC Sections 147, 188, 353, 341 for violating Section 144 and the disturbing public on road," said  Manoj Pathak, SHO Bishrakh.

Pathak further said, "They (protesters) were told that they were violating Section 144 imposed in the city, but they were adamant and continued with their protest. We tried to resume the traffic flow and control the situation but the protesting people acted aggressively."

Annoyed with the water scarcity since Monday, the residents raised slogans like 'Supertech chor hai' during their protest.

On Tuesday morning they protested at the management's office and later, around 9.00 pm the agitation moved to the road outside the society. The residents alleged that the builder had failed to provide a proper supply of water and electricity.

As the water crisis continued for the third day (Wednesday), residents approached the District Magistrate in Greater Noida. As per the reports, the District Magistrate has written to the Greater Noida Authority to intervene in the matter. Later, the residents reached to the Greater Noida Authority.

The issue started on Monday following the malfunctioning of one of the authority's water pump. By the time the pump was repaired, water tanks of the 20 towers of society had run dry till the supply was initiated, which resulted in the severe water crisis. Meanwhile, the management had arranged water tankers and bottles to compensate for the shortage of water.
