The Delhi government is back with their odd-even scheme this coming winter in a bid to tackle pollution.

The scheme would be the part of seven points agenda prepared by the Delhi government to fight against the growing pollution in the city.

The vehicle restricting formula will be introduced from November 4 to November 15 in the capital.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that smog from the adjoining states due to burning of subtle was the major cause of pollution in Delhi and odd-even would be one among the slew of measures that Delhi government would take to deal with the pollution.
“Odd-even will be implemented from November 4 to November 15. Study shows that it reduces pollution by 10-13 per cent, however, emergency vehicles will not be included under this scheme,” said Kejriwal.
It would be the third time when the city will witness the odd-even scheme according to which the vehicles would be allowed to ply on the roads as per the last digit of their number plates. If the last digit of the vehicles falls with odd number (1,3,5,7,9) it will be allowed to ply for one day while vehicles with last digit (0,2 ,4, 6,8) would be allowed on another day.

The chief minister said that the government is also planning to implement mechanised sweeping on maximum roads in the city.

Apart from it, the government has also decided to appoint at least two marshals in each ward of the city to discourage people from burning garbage during winters.

However, the scheme will not be implemented in case the air pollution level does not cross the danger mark post Diwali.

The Delhi government's odd-even scheme was first introduced from January 1 to 15, 2016 and re-implemented from April 15 to 30, 2016 and a penalty of Rs 2,000 was imposed for the violation of the scheme.

Notably, the third time also there is no clarity whether two-wheelers have been included in the scheme or  not, as in past there was a great disagreement when the scheme was not applicable on the two-wheelers.
