In the wake of circulation of WhatsApp messages regarding the growing incidents of child-lifting in the area, Greater Noida's La Residentia residents held a 'children awareness programme' on Saturday morning.

The training session was conducted by Bijoy Tripathy, an ex-army man and an active resident of La Residentia along with iThought, an NGO working for children's welfare in Delhi-NCR.

The session imparted education to the children of the society on how to act and react in situations when an ill-intentioned person approaches them. They were taught self-defense techniques and were also made self-aware against any attack.

Speaking to CitySpidey Bijoy Tripathy said, “Crime against children is on the peak nowadays. Through this workshop, my aim is to enable the children of the society to cope up with untoward incidents.”

During the session, the children were made aware on how to react to situations. Tripathy added that a brief was given to the children on not to accept toys, chocolates etc from strangers.

“They were taught on how to escape if a kidnap attempt is made. The children were also briefed on the importance of notifying parents about any incident which the child feels strange about,” he said.

Children between the age group of 4-14 years participated in the awareness drive and were enthusiastically seen raising follow up questions.

Sharad Pandey, a resident of La Residentia said, “In recent times, a drastic rise in crime against children has been seen. The training session was organised to enable the children to be ready in case of these situations.”

Notably, La Residentia has been organising a lot of training workshop for its residents and staff. Last weekend, they had arranged a disaster management and medical assistance workshop for its security and maintenance staff.
