Raj Nagar Ext: Dengue larvae found in high rise, schools

Dengue larvae were found in a housing society of Raj Nagar Extension, Ghaziabad. After conducting an inspection in the society, officials of the health department found Dengue larvae breeding in the basement of Charms Castle, a high-rise.

The findings have triggered a sense of fear among the residents of the society. "We have complained several times in the past to the builder against waterlogging and seepage in the basement but our requests and concerns were taken lightly," said Bhuri Singh, a resident of the society.

District Malaria Officer GK Mishra said that medicines and powders have been sprayed in the area to control further breeding of larvae.

Apart from the high-rise, Dengue larvae have also been found in five schools. Mishra told that larvae were found in cooler, ACs and flower pots. "Medicines have been sprayed in these places as well to control the breeding," he added.

The health department has sent notices to the housing society and the schools. "We have sent notices for now. We will inspect again after 15 days. If we find dengue larvae again, we will fine them and lodge FIR as well," Mishra said.
