Indirapuram: GDA to clear 57 spots from encroachment

In a move to remove encroachments from the roads of Indirapuram, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has marked 57 encroached spots alongside roads of Indirapuram, officials told.

The spots were picked after a survey was conducted by the authority in various localities of Indirapuram such as Nyay Khand, Shakti Khand, Ahinsa Khand, Neeti Khand, Vaibhav Khand, Gyan Khand, and Abhay Khand.

The authority is expected to start the anti-encroachment drive from September 20. In order to carry out their works smoothly, the authority has also demanded the police force to provide their assistance.

“Indirapuram area is riddled with roadside encroachments. Street vendors encroaching upon the footpaths have become a common sight,” said Seema Dhankar, a resident of Indirapuram.

In last few months, traffic jams at many junctions and roads in Indirapuram have grown enormously. Roads like Kala Patthar and CISF Road are choked during peak traffic hours.

Last year, the Allahabad High Court had directed SSP Ghaziabad to constitute a Special Task Force to manage the traffic in the area. This direction from the court came after hearing a PIL filed by Indirapuram-based Federation of Apartments Owners Association (FedAOA).

In the PIL, the FedAOA had sought the seizure of the commercial establishments, which are situated in residential areas of Indirapuram. The plea asserted that commercial operations are hampering the peaceful life of citizens and creating traffic menace in the area as well.
