Greater Noida: Divyansh Flora holds fire safety drill for residents

In an attempt to educate the residents on how to operate fire fighting equipment installed in the society, a fire safety drill was conducted in Divyansh Flora, a highrise in Greater Noida on Sunday. Fire safety drill was conducted under the supervision of officials from the fire department in Greater Noida.

The drill was conducted on demand of the residents of the society. The society has 466 flats out of which 325 are occupied. In order to know whether the firefighting systems in the society are adequate and are good enough for emergency, the residents collectively decided to conduct a fire safety drill.

“The society has adequate number of fire extinguishers installed on all the floors but it was never checked whether they are operational or not. Therefore, we requested the fire department to conduct a fire safety drill. The other purpose was to educate the residents, especially woman, on how to use fire extinguishers during emergency. Many residents showed their interest in the drill,” said Tanmay Tyagi, a resident.

During the drill, the fire department officials also checked the fire fighting systems, availability of water, water sprinklers etc. The officials claimed that the society was equipped with adequate fire fighting systems which were fully functional.

“Having a fire fighting system is important in societies but it is equally important for the residents to know how to operate them so that they are able to use them in case any fire incident occurs in the society. Therefore, such drills should be conducted time and again,” said Sheshnath Yadav, a senior official in fire department in Greater Noida.
