The number of malaria cases this year is higher than what it was reported last year, the data released by municipal corporations of Delhi said.  

As per the data, 247 cases of malaria has been reported this year in comparison to the 225 cases last year. In the past two weeks, nearly 100 cases were reported.

According the the data, most of the vector-borne diseases are reported between September and December. Last year, a total of 3,436 cases of vector-borne diseases were reported. Out of the total figure of 3,436 cases, 2,965 cases were reported in the period of September to December.

However, if we look into the data of dengue disease, a total of 171 cases have been reported so far this year. 

Domestic Breeder Checkers (DBC) of the three municipal corporations are responsible to control the breeding conditions in the city. So far, the officials have been successful in visiting 1.19 lakh houses.

Speaking to The Hindu, President of Anti Malaria Unity Workers Union Devanand Sharma said, “DBC's of the three municipal corporations have called off their strike after getting assurance that contract workers would be made permanent.”
