Shipra Krishna Vista: Residents' conflict with maintenance agency may reach GDA

The issue between residents and maintenance agency of Shipra Krishna Vista, over non-acceptance of cheques issued in the name of the developer, may reach to the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) in coming days. The residents are planning to take up the matter to the GDA.

“We are planning to raise the matter with the GDA. Necessary documents are being prepared for it,” told Amita Mahapatra, President of the society.

The dispute between residents and developer-owned maintenance agency of the society started on Sunday after the maintenance staff refused to accept cheques of monthly maintenance charge issued in the name of the developer.

The agency demanded from the residents to issue cheques in its name. Till last month, the residents were issuing cheques in the name of the developer, Shipra Estate Limited.

The situation became grim when the residents spotted two bouncers inside the society. They perceived it as a threat and demanded them to leave the premises. Later, the matter reached to the police.

Both the arguing parties, the residents and the maintenance agency, complained against each other at the police station. Deepankar Kumar, manager at the maintenance agency said that a few residents, who had an issue with the cheque, misbehaved with the maintenance staff.

Now, the residents want to take up the matter with the GDA, which is a partner in all the projects developed by Shipra Estate Limited in Indirapuram through a joint venture.

"There are plenty of works to be completed by the developer in the society and a case is still running in Allahabad High Court in this regard. In such a situation, the developer can't handover the maintenance to any third party," said Arun Rai, petitioner and ex-president of AOA of the society.

The residents apprehended that the appointment of the maintenance agency is a ploy by the developer to run away from the responsibilities.

“The builder does not want to complete the development works of the society, this is why he has handed over the maintenance to a third party. The absence of an RWA is adding to our woes," Mohapatra said.

The society currently has a defunct RWA. The term of previous RWA expired in March 2019.
