NBCC conducts inspection at Amrapali Zodiac after SC's order

A week after the Supreme Court directed the state-run National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) to take up the execution of electricity infrastructure of Amrapali Zodiac, a society located in Sector 120, Noida, the NBCC conducted an inspection on Tuesday.

Residents of the society had pleaded to the court to look into their grievances and to provide justice in the matter. Nearly one hundred families, living in three towers of the society – A, B and W, are living with inadequate power supply and infrastructures prescribed for a highrises building.

Direct connection from the power supply system to their flats, without having meters and power fluctuation control system, is affecting their electrical equipments such as television, refrigerators, air conditioners and etc.

“Out of 22 towers, three towers, where nearly one hundred families live, lack proper infrastructure. Continuous fluctuation in power supply harm electrical appliances,” said Balvant Singh, a resident.

On September 11, the top court had directed the NBCC to ensure that residents are being provided standard infrastructure for high rise buildings.

“The NBCC is directed to take up the execution of electricity infrastructure in A and B Towers of Amrapali Zodiac, Sector 120, Noida, in view of the serious issues arising due to lack of such infrastructures. The approximate expenditure in this regard is likely to be Rs 20 lakh as stated by the residents of the said two towers. Said amount be released to NBCC for the above purpose and subject to the submission of actual accounts expenditure, in case it is in excess it has also be paid,” read the judgement.

The NBCC officials will submit their findings during society's inspection to the court-appointed receiver, K Venkataramani, a senior advocate. Another copy will be submitted to the court for further directions.

Around 1,600 families are living in 20 buildings of Amrapali Zodiac. “Only two towers – Q and R are vacant. Except the three mentioned towers, others have complete power supply infrastructures. And towers A and B are in a vulnerable position,” Singh added.
