Noida: Learning experience for kids on healthy environment through activities

A daycare center, in association with the Greno Green Foundation (GGF), organised a series of activities for children, on Wednesday in Noida, to make them aware of the importance of elimination of plastic.

Children from the Yo Poppins Play School and Daycare participated in the activities including drawing. The kids, in the age group of 5 to 10, enthusiastically made beautiful drawings. Eight-year-old Mysha scribbled a slogan, “Say bye-bye to plastic bag”, on her drawing to promote the idea of plastic ban and save the environment.

A GGF member, Gautam, told stories related to importance of greenery and healthy environment. The children took a pledge to stop use of plastic.

The GGF distributed among the participants cloth bags, which they said they would use and ask their parents also to use instead of plastic bags.

“The awareness drive aimed at motivating the children to move away from single-use plastic," Sanwarjeet Singh, a core GGF member said.

“Planning for good future of the upcoming generation should start today to make the world a better place,” he added.

He further said, “When children are educated about stopping use of plastic they take the message home and share it with their parents. It is quite often seen that when parents are told something by their children, they invariably pay much heed and try to comply with it for fear of being reprimanded by their wards.”

Speaking to CitySpidey, Sangeeta Sharma, owner of the daycare, said, “We try to inculcate good values in children. They should understand the importance of environment and nature around us. The play school has a kitchen garden, pets like rabbit and fish aquarium for them to imbibe the lessons of nature.”

“We try to explain to the children the ways through which they can contribute to the efforts on reducing air and water pollution. They are taught to minimise the usage of non-degredable substances through various activities,” Sharma added.
