Noida: Complaint against Lotus Boulevard for releasing untreated water in drain

The residents of Sector 100, Noida, on Friday registered a complaint with Noida Authority against developer of Lotus Boulevard, a high rise in the area, for flouting green norms and demanded action against the builder.

They complained that the developer is flooding untreated waste water in rainwater drain passing through the sector. Consequently the choked drain is causing stagnation of the waste water. The residents fear that the stagnant waste water can cause dengue or viral fever in the area.

Pawan Yadav, president of Century Apartment, wrote to concerned officer on special duty with Noida Authority drawing his attention towards the issue.

He said the nauseating stench emanating from the drain is a cause of worry. “People prefer to stay indoors. It has also become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. As a result, it can lead to severe waterborne diseases like dengue.”

He further said, “The developer was also flouting environment rules, which state that waste water should not be drained out without proper treatment. “But in violation of the rules, the developer is allegedly releasing the untreated waste water in the drain,” he added.

Urged the higher authorities to take steps to solve the problem, Yadav said, “The developer should immediately be asked to stop releasing waste water into the open drain as it violates NGT's guidelines.”
