The team sensitised people about the importance of cleanliness.
A team of Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) reached Sector 10 to clean the area on Saturday to mark the World Cleanup Day. Through the move, they have sent out a message to the residents about the importance of cleanliness in life.
They took along school children and municipal councillors to carry out the sanitary task. The cleanliness mission was carried out under the leadership of Joint Commissioner Indrajit Kulharia.
Sensitising people on the importance of sanitation, the team warned against the use of plastic or polythene bags. Kulharia personally visited nearby shops to seize plastic bags.
Speaking to the people assembled there, the Joint Commissioner said, “Maintaining of cleanliness is a moral responsibility of each individual. We should keep our surroundings including homes and nearby areas clean."
Admonishing the gathering about the hazards of plastic, he said, "We should refrain from using it if we want to protect our environment.”
He urged people to take a pledge to carry cloth or jute bags to the markets for shopping. “I request you to not ask for plastic bags from shopkeepers. Collective effort is required to ensure healthy environment for the upcoming generation,” he said.
