Mahagun Moderne AOA accused of stealing idea of Bartan Bank, misusing funds

The residents of Mahagun Moderne, a residential society in Noida's Sector 78, has charged the Apartment Owners Association (AOA) representatives with diverting the society's funds to projects  like 'Bartan Bank' and cloth bag distribution. They said that the AOA has used the funds without taking them into confidence.

Moreover, the residents also alleged that the AOA has stolen the idea for initiative from Shubhra Rai who is a resident of the same society. According to them, she was already working on pushing the 'Bartan Bank' idea through door-to-door campaign with children and on the social media.

They said it is Shubhra who started the cloth bag initiative in the society.

Speaking to CitySpidey, Shubhra said, “I have been working for waste segregation and ban on plastic in the society for the last ten months. I had shared the idea of 'Bartan Bank' on September 9. It is slated to start from October 2.”

She said the residents supported the cloth bag initiative undertaken by her a few months ago.

“I acknowledge the initiative taken by the AoA for the environment but failed to understand why they didn't support me when I went to seek their help for waste segregation and 'Bartan Bank.' They knew that I was planning a bank. I kept them in the loop for starting the bank,” she added.

Another resident, Indrani Mukherjee said, “Shubhra is our society's star environmentalist. She has been working for the environment along with Jyoti and society’s children without expecting any return. On the other hand, the AoA just wanted to score some brownie points.”

She added, the AoA has not provided any audit report in the last 20 months.

Jyoti Singh, another resident, and environment campaigner alleged on Twitter, “The AOA did nothing for two years and now does photo promotions and prints in media to politicize the noble cause of the environment. The AoA spent resident’s money without accountability.”

The residents also told that they fear that the idea of 'Bartan bank' will meet the same fate as what happened to the ambulance which was bought after the first AoA election. The ambulance was inaugurated by MP Dr Mahesh Sharma. The ambulance disappeared three days after the inauguration.

CitySpidey also spoke to Mridul Bhatia, Secretary of the AoA, who denied all the allegation and said, “The 'Bartan Bank' idea is not patent of someone, it has been around for ages. We never stopped people from doing anything. They should not put forward pointless allegations. An AoA is in absolute capacity to utilize the funds for a good cause and what better cause than doing something for mother Earth.”
