Raahgiri back in Noida with fun, sports and masti

With a view to spread awareness about harmful effects of plastic on environment, the Noida Industrial Development Authority resumed Raahgiri (street jamboree to encourage non-motorised mode) on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

The Raahgiri, which includes sports and cultural activities, was held in Sector 137 from 6pm to 9pm. Over thousand residents from different high rises took part in activities ranging from Zumba dance, martial arts, football and cricket to badminton. Children too participated in the events besides theme drawings on environmental issues.

In keeping with the theme of the event, ‘Plastic-free city and Swachhta’, the authority put up banners alongside the road on plastic-free Noida and swachhta (sanitation) mission.

The Noida Authority started the preparation for the event on February 3, 2019. The last Raahgiri was organised on June 7, 2019 but was stopped due to several heat waves during peak summer. Now that the weather has cooled down, the authority decided to resume the event.

One of the core purposes for organising the event was to help people maintain physical fitness. The event served as a platform for the people to engage in sports and other outdoor activities.
