Why isn't the Authority acting on Jalvayu Vihar's sewer problem?

Residents of Jalvayu Vihar in Sectors 21 and 25 of Noida are unhappy with Noida Authority. It has been eight months that a sewer line was damaged near the Nithari T-Junction, flooding the entire area, but the Authority is turning a blind eye to it. The worst-affected areas are the M, N, L and J blocks, with residents being forced to live under unhygienic conditions for almost a year now.

One of the problem drains inside Jalvayu Vihar

The society's RWA has installed two small diesel pumps (one shown above) outside the society to extract the sewer water and throw it into the open drain near the society. However, residents say this is a temporary fix and a permanent solution is the need of the hour.

Narinder Mahajan, a resident, told City Spidey, that the problem would deteriorate in the monsoon months.

DP Goel, the RWA president, said he tried to meet the Authority officials, but in vain. He even called them up, but did not get a satisfactory response from them.

When City Spidey took up the matter with MP Sharma, project engineer of Noida Authority, he said that a tender to repair the sewer line would be floated in the next 15 days. "The damaged sewer pipe is at a depth of 6 m, and carrying out repair work there will not be an easy task," he added.
