GDA plans to make water treatment plant mandatory at housing projects

The Ghaziabad Development Authority has planned to make water treatment plant mandatory for all upcoming group housing societies. It has decided to forward a proposal for the rule in its board meeting scheduled on Friday.

The new system will be different from the current sewage treatment plant.

With this, group housing societies will have to make a provision for a water treatment plant inside their premises.

The water treated by the plants would be used for maintenance of premises including cleaning, gardening etc.

Officials said that this rule will be applicable to the societies with a size of 5,000 square metre and above. The treatment plant will process the water utilised in kitchen and bathroom.

Under this system, a separate pipeline will be used. Currently, all the utilised water goes to the STP.

Treated water from STP is unfit for watering plants. It is also unfit for cleaning floor as it harms the texture of floor.

Every developer will have to lay down different pipes to bathroom and kitchen. While the STP pipe will only carry sewage from the toilets.
