Ghaziabad: GDA to hold weekly meets to resolve RWA-Developer disputes

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has decided to hold its weekly meetings to resolve disputes between the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and developers, said an official.

The authority has fixed Thursday for its meetings. In the meetings, a five-member committee will listen to the grievances of the RWAs and developers. However, complaints will be registered on all working days and a weekly list of complainants would be maintained by the officials.

The committee, formed by GDA Secretary Santosh Rai, will be headed by  Sushil Kumar Chaubey, an officer on special duty (OSD). Other members of the committee are: another OSD, Sanjay Kumar; Town Planner KK Gautam, two executive engineers and enforcement in-charge of the area from where the complaints would be heard.

Rai cited better preparation for resolving the disputes by GDA officials as a reason behind taking the decision to hold the weekly meets.

“Many meetings on builder-buyer disputes happen impromptu and the officials don't get time to do homework on the matters. This process will enable the officials to do some research on the dispute. It will also help in understanding the dispute more efficiently,” Rai said.

GDA officials informed that the authority receives 6-7 complaints regarding a dispute between RWA and builder on a daily basis. Most of the complaints come from Indirapuram, Raj Nagar Extension, Vaishali and Kaushambi, officials added.
