The Noida Police on Thursday nabbed two inter-state robbers after an exchange of gunfire with them at Filmcity on Thursday. Police said that the shootout took place at around 5 am in the vicinity of Electrical Board office in Sector 16.

Identified as Phool Singh and Chandan, the robbers were  intercepted by the police while they were riding on motorcycle at Atta Market. According to the police, they tried to speed away from the police party on their bike raising suspicion among the cops. As the patrolling team chased them, they opened fire on them.

“When one of the accused was hit by a our bullet, they opemed retaliatory firing on us. In the mellee, the motorcycle skidded and they fell on the ground. Grabbing the opportunity, we arrested them,” the police said. 

It is Phool Singh who was hit by the bullet. He was sent to a hospital for treatment while the his accomplice was arrested by the police.

Two illegal firearms along with ammunition were recovered from their possession. The police later found out that the motorcycle that they were using was stolen from Delhi.

During investigation, it came to know that Phool Singh already had as many as 17 criminal cases registered against him while five criminal cases were found against Chandan. 

The Filmcity is located in Noida's sector 16. The city houses several media organisations including TV, print and electronics.
