The RWAs of Greater Noida will now have to take up the task of maintaining the parks in their vicinity. They also have the authority to put up hoardings or advertisements there, and use the revenue for the parks' upkeep.
Iterating the seriousness of the responsibility, the Greater Noida Authority said that if it found a particular RWA unable to do this, the responsibility would be handed over to another RWA in the area.
The general secretary of Alpha II RWA, Harinder Bhati, spoke to City Spidey about the shabby state of the parks. He added that if RWAs took up the responsibility of looking after them, the situation would improve.
Anand Mohan, senior manager of the horticulture department, Greater Noida Authority, said, “The Authority is spending a good deal of money on these parks, but even then we are unable to maintain them properly. Now that we have roped in the RWAs, we hope to see the parks in much better shape soon.”
