As per the police, the accused were only involved in transporting the illicit liquor.
A police team on Friday arrested six men with 100 cartons of illicit liquor in Gautam Budh Nagar. The officials also seized five vehicles from them.
According to source, a team of Jarcha police station led by Narendra Kumar Sharma intercepted five cars and seized smuggled liquor from them.
Four vehicles were registered in Delhi and Haryana. The other one was without number plate.
The accused are natives of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. They were identified as Tara Chand, Nitin Singh, Praveen, Harish, Amit, and Rajneesh. The seventh accused, Sachin, the driver of the car without the number plate, escaped.
An FIR under Section 282 (conveying person by water for hire in unsafe or overloaded vessel), 283 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation), 284 (negligent conduct with respect to poisonous substance), 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter) and 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered.
