Earth Root Foundation (ERF) on Sunday took an initiative to make the community aware about the harm of single-use plastic through a programme organised at Sector 13 DDA park.
On the occasion, a cleanliness drive was also carried out. People showed enormous enthusiasm in clearing the premises of plastic bags.
School students, corporate professionals, women and senior citizens participated in the drive.
Morning walkers and vendors were also apprised about the ill-effects of plastic use and how it has damaged the environment and health of people.
Secretary of the foundation, Vivek Panwar said, “This is our responsibility to save the environment for next generation. To make the society plastic free is an important step towards that. We are just making efforts to sensitise the people. More such programme would be organised in future.”
On the occasion, SK Dhaka, an Environmentalist from Delhi University, made people aware about how plastic is mixing in the air and entering into our body causing a threat to our lives.
