Indiapuram: Gulmohar Residency residents begin Navratri by constructing temple

Residents of Gulmohar Residency began the first day of their Navratri on Sunday by laying foundation of a temple in their society’s premises.

After a long demand from the developer for a temple in the society, the residents themselves laid the foundation.

“The construction of a temple will cost around 20 lakh which we collected through donation from the residents,” said SK Panda, a resident of the society.

"The temple was much needed since we don't have a common place of worship in the society. To offer prayers during religious ceremonies, the residents, especially women and elderly, had to visit temples in other societies," Panda said.

"At times security guards did not let us enter inside societies which disheartened the residents. Now, there will be no problem," Panda added.

The residents claimed that the temple is being built on demarcated site and they have informed the developer as well. "We received no objection from their (developer) side," Panda claimed.
