To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Chief Executive Officer of Noida Authority, Ritu Maheshwari, ordered officials to make a charkha (spinning wheel) in the city. It will be world's biggest spinning wheel made of 1,250 kg of recycled plastic waste.

The wheel will be 14 feet high, 20 feet long and eight feet wide. The weight of the spinning wheel will be 1,650 kg. The thread spinning wheel will be on display near Mahamaya Flyover in Sector 94.

Local MP, Mahesh Sharma, and MLA, Pankaj Singh, will be unveiling the spinning wheel on October 2 after paying rich tributes to the father of the nation.

Meanwhile, the authority is celebrating 'cleanliness month' between September 27 and October 27.

During this period, will launch campaigns in association with several organisations and resident bodies to make the city free from plastic.

People have also been coming forward to volunteer the drive and contribute labour for the cleanliness activities.
