The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation has collected a fine of Rs 1 lakh from Meerut Road-based Ford Service Station after it was found guilty of a fire incident happened last week.
Environment activist Vikrant Sharma had spotted a huge fire at a chemical dump. He called fire brigade which took half an hour to reach the spot. In the meantime, fire intensified causing a black smog.
During an investigation, GMC found that plastic and other banned material from the service station was the reason behind the fire.
GMC had issued a notice to Ford Service Station on September 24 to pay Rs 1 lakh as penalty within three days of receiving the notice. Failing which, a fine of Rs 5,000 everyday would be imposed as additional fine.
