Kejriwal announces mega plan to improve state of roads

In a major announcement, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said that his government was working on improving the state of roads across the metropolitan city. He aims to make the city's roads free from potholes and dust.

Addressing a press conference, the CM said as many as 50 Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will be assigned with the task of inspecting roads in their constituency. The MLAs would submit the report to the government.

The mega plan, according to the CM, would kick off on Saturday. Under the plan, the roads falling under the jurisdiction of Public Works Department (PWD) would be inspected.

“Each team will have one MLA and a PWD engineer. They will be inspecting the roads in the city. To carry out the inspection, they would drive on the roads twice from each direction to get an idea about the state of road. They would submit the report through an App and repair work will be done accordingly,” the CM said.

The PWD, which functions under the Delhi Government, has 1,260 km of road across the National Capital. Kejriwal said that a city-wide exercise to identify potholes on roads will be conducted on October 5.
