Gurugram: Sare Homes carries out cleanliness drive to mark Gandhi anniversary

Residents of Sare Homes Phase-III, a high rise residential society in sector 92, on Wednesday carried out a mass cleanliness drive to mark 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. More than 60 residents including men, women and children participated in the drive and mopped up the society and adjoining area.

Motivating the residents to keep the society neat and clean and become part of the campaign, SS Jaryal, president of Prayas Green Parc People Association, said, “Everyone should contribute to making the drive a success. People should make it a habit to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings. We need to set an example for others.”

All the participants took a pledge to keep their society clean. They cleaned up the common area and open space of the society which were strewn with garbage and horticulture waste. They collected around 30 bags of garbage and plastic waste during the drive.

Ajay Bharadwaj, senior vice-president of PGPPA, said, “Through this drive, we want to spread Mahatma Gandhi’s message of keeping our surroundings clean. The area from tower 8 to 14 was neglected by the developer of the society and our children were forced to play in dirt which is why we carried out the cleanliness drive.”

He also stressed on the need to preserve the aesthetic look of the society and made an appeal to the residents to help maintain cleanliness of the surroundings and curb the use of plastic.
