The Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA) launched a literacy campaign, NEFOWA Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan (NSSA), as part of its philanthropic programme to coincide with Gandhi Jayanti. The aim of the programme is to reach out to children of the underprivileged sections of the society with education.
In its first endeavour, the NEFOWA conducted elementary classes in Bishrakh village. More than 50 children attended the classes. Parents of the children were apprised about the programme and requested to regularly send their wards for the classes.
More than 20 members of the NEFOWA belonging to different societies volunteered to carry forward the NSSA forward. Children from standard 1 to 5 are being given free education through these classes.
The NEFOWA aims to launch the NSSA programme across all the major villages of the Greater Noida West area.
Launching the programme, NEFOWA president, Abhishek Kumar, said, “Nothing beats the joy of seeing parents excited with hope of their kids getting education for better future. We want to make the Greater Noida West area a better place for the upcoming generation. We will also be assisting kids in getting admissions in mainstream schools under economic weaker section (EWS) category.”
