Residents of DLF City Phase 5, Gurgaon, can now avail shuttle bus service run on CNG from 7.30 am to 7.45 pm that too, free of cost. The service was flagged off by the Gurgaon DCP Balbir Singh as part of an environment-friendly initiative taken up by the authorities.

The bus service is expected to benefit an estimated 4,000 families in the area. Commuters can use these CNG buses only after smart cards are issued to them.

The bus bays have been marked near the entry/exit gates of complexes for the convenience of the residents who were assured of a frequency of the bus service of 47 minutes at each stop. The bus will start from South Point Mall and end at Summit Apartment covering DLF Club 5, Icon, Pinnacle, Princeton Estate, Royalton Estate, Wellington Estate, Carlton Estate, Westend Heights and the Aralias on the route.

An air-conditioned bus will also ply on the proposed route which will form a nearly 5.5 km loop.

"We will study the usage pattern and, if necessary, increase the frequency. Through this service, we aim to make travelling within the city easier for residents and encourage the use of shared transport," said Saloni Sood, the spokesperson of DLF.

The 17-seater will be on the move throughout the day. At present, there is only one shuttle. Another shuttle will be launched next week.

“All the residents have been informed about the service through email and on web portal of DLF. Each family is entitled to four smart cards which can be used for availing the shuttle service. The shuttle service comes as a great relief for the residents in view of heavy congestion during peak hours,” added Sood.

The driver of the bus is already on the pay roll of DLF who has been hired after proper police verification. Hence, commuters need not be unduly concerned about security and safety issues.
